What makes our bedroom cupboards deferent is
that we use 150mm PVC plastic legs as the base of
our cupboards. Allot of kitchen contractors run the
sides of the bedroom cupboard all the way down to
the floor. This might save a bit on the cost but if you
build the bedroom cupboards on laminated floors
and mop them the water will eventually swell the
sides of the cupboard and you will have to replace
it. PVC plastic legs are waterproof, easy adjustable
to level the cupboards and can carry allot of weight.
We also don't take short cuts when
it comes to the construction of our
cupboards. If a bedroom unit has 2
doors each door should have it's
own cabinet.
We supply diy kitchen cupboard units as well as fully
installed diy kitchens to our clients. We are a Cape
Town based kitchen company. We also provide a
service where we do diy kitchen plans and designs
and give the clients innovative ideas on how to design
their kitchen. Our system has been around since 1986
making us one of the leading diy kitchen suppliers in
our market.
It's important to remember that time is money and when
you're building kitchens for an income that you turn then
quickly. After all the more kitchens you install the more
money you stand to make for that given month. It takes
on average about 2-3 days to assemble a relative size
built in kitchen. Why so long?Firstly you have to sort out all the pieces of melamine
chipboard that gets delivered to your house of factory. If
a piece of melamine is cut wrong or edged on the wrong
side it either costs you time to edge it your self with
pre-glued PVC renolit edging or you have to drive to your
board supplier to have then sort it out for you. Normally
you wait so long for suppliers to cut the right size
melamine or edge it that it's best to cut and edge it
yourself. It's not that the chipboard board suppliers give
poor service. They loose production if they have to stop a
big job or any job for that matter just to sort out your
problem not to mention momentum.
Secondly you have to drill holes in the sides of the
cupboards you're going to place chipboard screws
through. It's also time consuming and if you drill the
hole to close to the side of the melamine chipboard the
chipboard screw will break out the side of the shelf you're
screwing it into. Diy kitchen cupboards have all the holes
pre-drilled already. Not just for assembling cupboards
but also to fix the hinges and drawers onto the carcass,
to set and adjust the shelves in place and to slide the
backing board into the diy kitchen cupboard carcass so
as to keep it square.
Thirdly you have to mark out where you want to place
your runners, hinges, adjustable legs etceteras. It's a
pretty straight forward job to do but it's time consuming
even with templates and we are talking about saving time
here.
Fourthly how long does it take to draw up a cutting
list for each piece of melamine and how easily can you
make a mistake by giving Davidsons boards or Chipbase
the wrong size to cut or wrong side to edge.
When you work and quote with diy kitchen cupboards
all you have to add up is the amount of cabinets, doors
and panels you want. All the hinges, drawers runners
and assembling hardware is all worked out for you.
Fifthly if you get your melamine chipboard cut and
edged and you've assembled all your cupboards you still
need to get the built in kitchen or bedroom cupboards
to site. There is normally so much chipboard that you
have to hire a trailer to transport it. Not with diy kitchen
or bedroom cupboards. You can leave all the cabinets
in it's flat-pack form and assemble it on site. This way
it's easier and more convenient to carry the flat-packs
specially if there's stairs.
